Yes! On December 18, 2019, Governor Murphy signed a bill into law allowing people who are on probation or parole to register to vote. The law took effect March 17, 2020.
The bill was co-sponsored by representatives of our 15th District: Trenton’s own Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson and by NJ Senator Shirley Turner. Prior to the law taking effect, people on probation or parole were prohibited from registering to vote by a law enacted in 1844.
